I was wondering what others processes are for inputting Serial Numbers for prosthetic components.

The problem we are running in to, is if our purchaser puts it in Opie Purchasing/OPIE Lite, it does not communicate with the patient's chart.

If the technician wanted to put them in for the practitioner when they completing the Quality Safety Checklist, there is no way to add the Serial Number and what component it goes to. The techs would then have to find the practitioner's component form, find the component and input the serial number. Which then takes even more time out the techs day when we have all prosthetics made in a central fabrication for the company. This could really damper production/turnaround times.

We are trying to:
A) come up with a stream lined process of this
B) wondering if we are missing something?

We are currently having technicians type a note in the Fab Tracking work order of all the components for the practitioner to enter before the patient comes in for delivery to make sure they are ready to be added to the receipt upon delivery.

With Medicare requiring those on the Delivery receipt and ensuring they are on there, we want to make it as user friendly as possible. Any ideas other ways anyone has come up with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
