Hi List,
We received a denial of code L5781 from an insurance company stating that
there is not enough scientific evidence that shows the safety and/or
effectiveness of the following lower limb prosthetic device:
vacuum-assisted socket system. At the present time, it is considered
non-standard and falls under the category of
experimental/investigational/unproven services.
We would like to use this technology on an active 51yo female transfemoral
amputee, and are looking to get this denial appealed. Can anyone direct me
to some research in VASS's effectiveness, or provide any help in fighting
this?
Thank you,
Sharon Andrews, LP-CP
