Thank you for all of your responses. I went ahead and ordered an Aegis 6mm
Ultimate Cushion liner. We will see how this patient likes it.

I'm sure its a bit more expensive. However, you should try a cushion wave
liner from Ossur. This way it is comfortable when they sit and stand.
While for my more active patients I usually use an Ossur Comfort locking
liner or a custom cushion liner, I've had excellent results for the past
five years with ESP's pre-flexed cushion and locking liners. They almost
always eliminate the the irritation caused by traction of the gel over the
patella for patients who are more sedentary.
A friend sent me your request on the list serve.
As you know we can not flex the Alpha liner other than prestretching the
liner over a preflexed positive model. This does work fairly well. You can
also localize the knee area of the liner and prestretch then apply mineral
oil to the patella prior to donning the liner, this also works well.
Have had excellent results with the ESP bent knee liner. Before them I used
to take a bent knee cast of pt and after modification would apply liner to
cast and place in oven. If I remember, the temp was 250 deg.
This preshapes the liner, call OWW before you try as they may have changed
the gel formula.
try ESP Aegis cushion liner. it's preflexed so it doesn't pull on patella.
just have patient bend knee slightly while donning it over knee.
Ossur Synergy Wave. I do not have a single patient that prefers another once
converted!
Aegis Ultimate is my favorite liner. Yes it is heavir=er than some but that
has never been noticable to the patient. The problems with pressure at the
patella is eliminated 99% of the time in my experience.
The only one I have used is the Aegis Ultimate. Seems to work well and is
durable when compared to the Alpha liners.
