As you all know, custom molded shoes are a necessary evil. At our facility,
we try to modify off-the-shelf shoes as often as possible to avoid the need
for custom molded shoes, however, there are occasions where it is necessary
to have shoes custom made. We have used Tru-Fit and ACOR. I have to say
that while ACOR seems to back up their shoes, they also take what seems like
forever. Tru-Fit promises quick turn-around, but their shoes don't fit,
and our pedorthists usually end up spending hours trying to make them work
for the patient/client, often practically tearing the shoe apart in order to
make structural changes. I wonder who the rest of you are using for custom
shoes. I really don't relish the idea of making them in house, so if there
are other suggestions, I would be grateful to hear them...I will post all
responses. Thanks in advance for your help.
