Inadvertantly deleted copy of original post but: Need info and suggestions
for knees/feet appropriate for #340 transfemoral amputee, 37 yo, K2 function.
Responses follow: (Thanks)

make him exo for sure, just pick a good knee unit from oww or otto bock with
a sach foot. Otto back has a stance phase exo knee that works well so thats
my first guess for this amputee.

Mauch Gaitmaster Jr is rated to 340lbs
Magnum Foot from OWW

I once had a similar patient. The only foot that could be used
for that weight was a custom Flex Foot. I had to get pre-approval from
funding agency to use it. Lots of documentation. Since he had a size
34cm foot, I also had to customize the foot shell in my lab.

Check OWW's Magnum series

I have had to handle a couple similar situations this year as well. My
clients were not limited by funding so It helped to have some options. I
found that OWW 's Magnum series is warranted for 350lbs, Endolite can make a
high activity knee frame that will withstand your clients weight with room
to spare for carrying objects and Flexfoot (Ossur) can make a custom
flexwalk foot for your client's weight. I had them make a Flexwalk for one
of my clients that was a Transtibial amputee weighing 410lbs and fairly
active. Endolite's knee frame seemed able to withstand the greatest amount
of weight but I'm not sure of the exact number - you may want to call. I
have heard that Kingsley may be able to make a custom SACH foot if you feel
it would be appropriate. Good luck,

We have a very active mid thirties AK second to trama who is 6'3 and +/-
370 lbs. He is wearind a suction flexible cat-cam socket with acrylic
retainer. He was wearing an
Endolite High Activity EUK knee with Catech SNS unit as well as an Endolite
heavy duty ankle attached to a Seattle lite foot (size 13). We recently
fitted him with an Ortho Europe Knee (with a signed disclaimer since his
weight is above the max amount) and a Springlite foot. I hope this
information helps you.

Based upon your recent posting, I just wanted to let you know about the
Magnum Heavy Duty system from Ohio Willow Wood. These complete BK kits offer
products with warranty coverage for amputees up to 350#. The kits include
adapters, a pylon, and a foot specifically designed to hold up to the wear
and tear from amputees of this size. You can decide upon one of three
different socket connector options with the Magnum system. If you are
interested in more information, please check out our web site at
www.owwco.com.
Thanks for the consideration and please let me know if we can be of any
further assistance.

I'm not sure if anybody has a knee that is classed out for your patient's
weight. For feet you could use a Flex Foot Allurion or OWW Magnum system
foot. For componentry the Magnum system is suitable and good for 350lbs on
someone at K2 functionality. This past week we fit someone with a definitive
device. He ways 345lbs. We fit him with an Allurion using a flex foot tube
clamp, carbon pylon with built in pyramid, an ipos female 4-hole socket
adaptor, and an aluminum grace plate from SPS for the inside of the socket.
Ipos has a component system called X-tra which is rated for people up to
450lbs.

I believe Hosmer's Enterga is good to 350 lbs. and the gait master Jr.
is good to at least 300 lbs. but maybe more (esp. if his is only doing
low impact stuff) feet - custom Flex feet, but a sach would probably
do. There was just a discussion for Trans tibial clients on this list
so do the search thing in the archives!

Thanks to all for the responses.
