Are there current (International or Local) classification systems for the
prescription of Prosthetic Knee Mechanisms? If there are, how widespread
are they used?

During the 1970's & 1980's the US Veterans Administration Dept. of Medicine
and Surgery produced a publication called Program Guide - Selection and
application of Knee Mechanisms. Is there a current edition which is still
used or is there a replacement document?

I know of the ISO standards for prosthetic components and the Otto Bock
classification system of their components for patient's weight and activity
level. I also know many prosthetic component suppliers provide advice,
technical information, and accreditation for the use of their components.

However, what I am looking for is an impartial assessment of prosthetic
knee mechanisms and a selection guide.

Does such a thing exist?
