Re: Px candidacy
Text:
Hi Joan-
I try to put it on the patient with the knowledge and cooperation of the
family, MD and PT.
I tell them that if they can 1)walk at least 50 feet with their one leg
independently using a walker and 2)can manage a prosthetic shrinker
independently 3)express their own desire to use a prosthesis, they deserve a
chance.
If it is just the family expressing the desire for the prosthesis, or the
candidate is only successful walking in parallel bars or needs other outside
assistance to meet the other criteria, than family or outside support will be
needeed for the patient. If it can be determined and confirmed that this
will be in place for the patient and someone there for the client is willing
to take on the responsibility to make it happen, then I would recommend
proceeding.
