Materials for a Colorado-Based Biomechanics/Prosthetics-Engineering Outreach Program
My name is Eric Carpenter and I develop and coordinate middle-school aged STEM outreach and teacher professional development programs for the University of Colorado Boulder's Science Discovery program ( <URL Redacted>. We are working with Dr. Alena Grabowski and her colleagues at CU to develop an outreach program focused on increasing the pipeline for biomedical engineering and biomechanics students in Colorado, with an expected impact of 2000 to 3000 teachers and students over the next 3 years.
I a writing to inquire about contacts, processes and leads for securing used, damaged, outdated/antiquated lower leg prosthetic devices for our outreach programming, or more modern devices that may have had bubbles, tears, or errors in their manufacturing. While Alayna's work at CU is focused on 'running blades' and biomechatronic devices, I understand that these are likely out of our price range, though highly desirable/interesting/engaging for the learners, and could be included.
Understanding that this is outside your normal scope of work, I would appreciate any information you could provide me with. Please reply to me directly at <Email Address Redacted> with any information or leads you may have. Thank you and have a great day! Sincerely,
Eric Carpenter, M.Ed, Ed.Sp.
