Hello Everyone,

I just was on the phone with a representative of NGS (Region B Medicare contractor). She asked if I was planning on attending the LCD meeting in Baltimore. I have been considering going to this meeting to talk about the damages to this profession, and especially what this will do TO the amputees. This is not about what we can do FOR the amputees, but is what we will be doing TO the amputees.

Who all is going? How many people are going to attend? Is anyone looking to share a hotel room for the night?

I am seriously considering going now that I know that the Medical Director for NGS is going to be there to represent NGS and their position on the LCD.

Also, she told me that she has gotten SEVERAL responses from people in this field who STRONGLY support this LCD and says this is a huge positive issue for prosthetics. WHO on here thinks the LCD is good? And WHY?

I am seriously asking this question, if anyone has feelings or believes that this LCD is good, or has anything positive for the Amputees, PLEASE share this with me. I am really open to learning another perspective on the LCD. (I can think of a few GOOD reasons why they felt it necessary to specifically make such rules to put an end to some unethical practices that have gone on in this field for too long... BUT I don't see this LCD as being an effective way to stop this from happening.)

Thanks,

Jim DeWees, CP
