We have a young man, age 10, with a short below elbow (congenital) amputation who is interesting in joining his middle school ROTC and participating in rifle exhibition drills (rifle spinning). He currently uses a pin locking liner with a Muenster style socket (more to limit rotation for his very round shaped residual limb with little no no bony definition)and voluntary opening hand with a harness.

We acknowledge that this is an extremely difficult task for a below elbow amputee of any type, but rather than telling him he can or don't, we'd rather optimize his prosthesis and let him decide what he thinks.

Has anyone developed any arm for anything similar? Any tips, tricks, or suggestions? Components?
Also, if you have any videos of any upper extremity amputees who do anything similar, I'm sure he would love to see it.

Prosthetic Resident
