I need some ideas for conservative management of a 69-year-old female with unilateral lower extremity weakness. Must use a WW to ambulate. 3/5 quads and hip flexion-ext. Hyper extension is aggravated by a tight heel cord that limits passive DF to -6°. She does not qualify therefore for an Easy Stride type KAFO. I am thinking of experimenting with an exterior 1 inch heel elevation ending at proximal metatarsal bridge to accommodate the short heel cord and move her knee anteriorly. I won't know about her knee stability until I try this first. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
