List-serve,
What is the best way to bill Medicare for Dynamic Arm repairs when the repair costs are above $5000? Normally you don't need a prescription for repairs and maintenance so I do not have a prescription for anything. The patient was having problems with his arm so he comes and sees me, which is standard protocol (at least it used to be years ago). I checked out the arm, talked with Otto Bock and had to send the arm to them for an estimate. The patient's doctor has not seen the patient with the malfunctioning arm. I send the arm to Otto Bock and get the estimate of repairs which is in the thousands of dollars, is using labor and small parts codes the way I am supposed to bill this out even when the parts are very expensive? How are those of you getting paid for these kinds of repairs and what kind of documentation are you collecting to get paid and keep your money.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Rick Stapleton, CPO
