Hello all,
I am reaching out to those who have experience with amputees who have
significant burn injuries.
I have a new transfemoral amputee whose injuries were due to thermal burns
sustained in MVA. He has remaining mid-shaft length residual limb where
the distal third of limb is covered with mostly thin, fragile skin with
significant scaring. Limb is very conical-shaped with very little soft
tissue distal to the cut end of femur. Proximal skin is relatively
healthy with minor burns and some donor graft sites. Overall, his limb is
well-healed and ready to begin fitting process.
What types of socket designs and considerations have been successful for
you. If you used a liner, what type did you find to work well.
I appreciate your advice.
Kindest regards,
Chad McCracken, MS, CPO
