Just a thought. Has any practitioner or national O&P organization ever offered to ship a congressman or senator a brace for their parent?
Follow me for a moment. Could we petition our representatives to allow their parents to be a typical mail order patient? Have them take their own measurements, and we will send them a brace for them to fit on themselves. They can choose, the spine or the knee.
This follows the mail order plan that congress is wanting to pursue through bidding! I would hope that a few manufacturers would even join in on this demonstration!
In exchange for our cost of the brace, the patient only has to report to a local O&P facility within their area for the fitting process to be graded. This would be a great test of the system that they would like to implement! It will cost our industry a great deal more if we do not stop the process that they are aiming to implement.
