Orthotics are covered in a nursing home as long as the patient has exhausted his/her part A (first 100 days) stay.
The place of service depends on if a SNF (skilled nursing facility) 31 or ICF (intermediate care facility) 32.
The orthotic must meet the necessity for support of a malformed body member and not for prevention of contractures.

All documentation needs to be specific to that patient and how the item will improve functioning of the malformed body member/ prevent pain/ support etc.

BE VERY CAREFUL HOW THESE ARE DONE. NEXT AUDIT ITEM COMING UP WILL BE OTHOTICS IN NURSING FACILITIES.
