The American Association of Breast Care Professionals is proud to announce
that it has been added to an Advisory Panel for a study based out of the MD
Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Texas.
This three year study, Contralateral Prophylactic Mastectomy and Breast
Cancer: Clinical and Psychosocial Outcomes is funded by the Patient Center
Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
The study's primary goal is to examine the psychosocial factors involved in
a women's decision to undergo a contralateral prophylactic mastectomy. Upon
conclusion, the researchers will develop a data driven tool helping women
to better understand the risks and effectiveness of this surgical
treatment option.
