Dear Esteemed Colleague,
We treated a patient that is a Workman's Comp case which is now covered by
the 'Special Funds Conservation Committee in New York'. First of we did
received pre-authorization and our quote was accepted with no terms stated
prior to commencing treatment.
Once I finalized the treatment and the Special Funds Conservation Committee
was billed, our credit department called after 3 weeks and was told that no
payments are made before 120 days - end of discussion. When we called again
at 90 days, after we received a notice in the mail that they were not
prepared to pay the fee as quoted and accepted by them, but that they were
going to discount it by another 10%, we were actually told today that if we
called and bugged them again, that they will blacklist us and that we will
never be allowed to treat this patient again. This is about as close to
socialism as I have experienced and it seems as if we are dealing with a
socialist regime.
If anyone has experience with this committee and can perhaps give me
suggestions as to whom we can contact to report such threats, as I am sure
that there isn't a for profit company in the USA that is not allowed to do
credit control and communicate a change in a fee schedule, I will appreciate
it.
I appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thanks awfully,
John Hattingh CP
