Hi Listmembers,
I have 60 year old female post polio patient who had an ankle fusion several
years ago. I'll be providing a KAFO and am tempted to give her a solid ankle
to protect the ankle thinking that there will be increased forces there due
to locking the knee during weight bearing.
From your experience, have you seen a triple arthrodesis go bad after
several years for an osteoporotic patient or is locking the ankle redundant?
Thanks,
Randy McFarland, CPO
