Hello everyone
Here's a case snapshot.
Heavy very active transtibial, last I saw him was car restoration club
member, worked on cars. Prosthesis was made heavy duty, foot and socket.
Prosthesis is roughly 3 - 3 1/2 yo.
Since then, his residuum atrophied, multiple adjustments done, and he
ended having a new prosthesis fabricated for him by a different
practitioner that is servicing him now. Approximately 2.5 years ago.
Apparently, he is using his new prosthesis for daily use and old one to
walk a dog. I am not questioning his decision, but what happened, his
_*old*_ prosthesis broke at the distal socket attachment. I have been
off his service for several years, as you can tell, but my good guess is
- because he had new prosthesis, his _*old one*_ likely was not
routinely checked or serviced.
He is OK (as in physically and not pursuing legal action), his socket
will be re-fabricated, but my question is: is there a time limit on
fabrication warranty in general and for a case like this in particular (
new prosthesis fitted)? Is there a specific Medicare document stating this?
Thank you
