Hi all,
One of my employees just received a telephone solicitation phone call. It
was an automated recording that said If you or a family member have
Medicare and low back pain please press 1 When you press 1 a live person
answers and advises you that they will ship you a custom back brace and bill
medicare and there will be no cost to you.
The name of the company is RBS back brace. Check out there 1 minute you
tube video

I thought it was illegal to solicit Medicare patients for services. How
is this legal? If it is, it shouldn't be.
I have been told by an LSO manufacturer that this type of call center LSO
sales is huge. Medicare is allowing this to go on but not accepting our
prosthetic notes as valid medical documentation?
Have any of our associations advised Medicare about this activity and how
it should be restricted or is this perfectly legal and legit. Seems like a
lot of fraud and abuse can be going on here. If we can help reduce this
type of activity and spending maybe Medicare will back off our field.
Wishful thinking I guess...
Thank you,
