Hello colleagues,
Would any of you be able to direct me to componentry suited for a 400
lb. (or more) transfemoral amputee? This particular patient reports her
weight to us as 380, but we believe it is more in the range of 400 to
450 pounds. She is very strong and has good balance, so I expect that
she has a great chance to ambulate at a K3 level -- provided we can find
components that are rated properly for a patient of her size and weight.
I'm looking for the knee and other endoskeletal components... socket
attachment plate, pylons, clamps, adaptors, etc. I have a foot being
fabricated for her, so I don't need to source a prosthetic foot.
Any advice or insights on working with patients 'of size' would be most
helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. I will post a summary of results once some responses
trickle in.
