Hello all,
Several weeks ago, I aided an ortho in the application of a halo at a local hospital. In this relationship, we provide the orthosis and subsequently bill the hospital. This is a fairly common occurance as we get a few per year. This case is unique in that the pins have subsequently loosened and per the ortho order, new sterile pins must be ordered and replaced. This was to be done at the docs office. These pins are expensive and I would like to know if there is any way we can bill medicare for these. The obvious question is why didn't the M.D. office order the pins? Good question. Bottom line is our office did and now saddled with the costs and perhaps nowhere to go on payment. Any ideas on reimbursement?
