Good Afternoon List Friends,

I know this question has been asked before. I actually have printed the
responses out from the archives.

But I thought I might throw it out there again for additional input.

How do you compensate your practitioners who are on-call? What is a
reasonable expectation? Do you ever compensate by the item fit/made while on
call?

Thank You for your ideas, I will post responses without names attatched.

Thank you to all who posted responses. It is a tight rope we walk in
providing our employees proper compensation and keeping our companies
profitable and highly functioning. I am currently reviewing our policies and
intent to utilize all of the information I have accumulated including your
responses to formulate a new policy.

Here are the responses:

Where I am currently practitioners are compensated as follows.
$2/hr to carry pager and automatic 2 hrs straight pay for going in. If he
is in 2.5 hrs he gets paid for 2.5hrs. And so on. There is no special
compensation for dollar amount billed or item fit.

Different companies have different thoughts in reference to On Call pay.

Below are different ways to compensate for the service.

1. The On Call is expected with your job description and is inclusive with
your annual salary.

2. A percentage of the items billed while On Call (5% to 10%) 3. Flat rate
of X number of dollars per month. This one is commonly discussed between
Practioners to come to an agreement.

Basically everything is negotiable. I know this is not much of an answer as
far as an actual dollar amount but I hope it helps
