Patient ~ 17yo male with CMT, diabetic , RSD.
Left ankle injury 3 years ago (distal break fibula and tibia) with
delayed healing.
Prolonged healing of fractures resulted in a plantar flexion contracture
of the left ankle and required subsequent TAL.
Both feet have cavus and hammer toes, however the right foot does well
with a soft apex shoe insert.
Left ankle is quite unstable (and some pain) upon weight bearing, and
has a bias toward inversion due to mal-alignment.
Family is considering a triple arthrodesis of the left ankle, or a
left transtibial amputation.
Have you had experience with either surgical procedure for this
condition?
