Does anyone have any experience with providing some sort of cervical
orthosis that will support the head but still allow for some
flexion/extension/rotation. I have two pediatric patients with different
pathologies but the same issue that they are in need of this type of device.
Both of them are using a philadelphia collar while in a stander (they have
limited trunk strength and no lower extremity strength). The phili collar
works well but is still more restrictive then the PT and myself want. I
have thought of trying a custom CTO with a posterior section similar to a
Lerman's Minerva, with elastic straps over the forehead that can be adjusted
dependent upon how much support the child needs. However, this still would
only allow limited rotation. Any thoughts or experience would be helpful.
