I just posted this comment at regulations.gov and thought the list might enjoy it.
Thank You CMS for giving me another Job. Now That you are making me the PECOS Police, please forward my Badge and gun and MY Pecos Police Id Card so the Physicians will take me serious. I guess that the Pecos Police need no training as I have received none. Please let me know how to handle a Physician that has not enrolled in PECOS. Do I pistol whip him or her into submission or just shoot them? If I am supposed to shoot them, is it to wound or should the shot be fatal? By the way, how much does this position pay? Enforcing federal rules is a paid position, right? Example: Border Patrol, Postal Inspector, FBI, Secret Service, US Marshal Service.
Why would you make me financially responsible over a Physician not in my employ and over which I have no power or authority. The Physician has no financial incentive to enroll if CMS punishes me for their non-compliance. This rule is like giving your neighbor a $100.00 fine because you did not cut your grass.
