Hello All,

I have used duraflex for SMO's inside AFO's for years. In the past I have used an acetate solution that you paint onto the SMO as a separator. Basically we would paint it on and then after the thermomolding of the AFO, the acetate would flake off the duraflex. Anything else we tried would stick to the duraflex and result in a terrible finish to the SMO.

I am wondering if there is another separator agent that people are using? I am not keen on the acetone/acetate toxicity. I am considering molding the SMO and then molding a pelite dummy for the AFO molding but this is never quite right and very time consuming.

Any suggestions would be great. I will post replies anonymously. Thanks.
