Thank you to the many responses. The consensus solution was using a
metal tool heated to high temperatures to smooth down the edge or using
wide tipped soldering gun. You could precut away some of the material
first before using the heated metal object of choice. Such things as
shoe horns to aluminum bar stock. Every response was strident about
using excellent ventilation while performing this task.
