Good afternoon to all,
We have been given an opportunity to assist in the relief effort in Port Au Prince, Haiti as well as Jacmel...I was able to make an assessment trip 2 weeks ago to see the status and the needs of the amputees in Jacmel. Upon return, I have been in contact with many organizations and missions that are all anticipating helping with the prosthetic needs. My most recent contact, Dr Tim Gueramy, an orthopedic surgeon in Austin, who is working with Mission of Hope but specifically through Austin Medical Relief for Haiti, is very well organized and is looking to set up a complete prosthetic lab to cast, educate, fit and follow up with in Port Au Prince. We will be involved by assisting with staffing and education and hopefully rotating practitioners in and out of the country to fit, educate Haitian practitioners and follow up with patients. We are looking for either used or donated equipment to include the following: Oven, Trautman Carver,
Vacuum pump, vacuum stand, cast saw (x2), plastic welder, generator, shoe machine/grinder, welding plate, misc supplies, hand tools, vise(s), pipe vises, workbenches, materials (PP, EVA) and a shop vac. These are products that we will need to complete the lab, we will get them shipped down without issue and we are looking to get them down by the end of next week. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for all of your help!
