Dear colleagues,
I am looking for suggestions or experiences to help with a particularly puzzling case. The patient is a young man in his 20's , right TFA due to MVA with resulting hip fx and damage to the hip extensor innervation. There is about 10 -15 deg of hip flexion contracture on the amp side due to the inactivity of hip extensors. The stump presents very long, like a KD, due to surgical issues? at the time of saving his life. Stump revision to shorten the limb has been discussed but the patient is very not interested in more surgery.

I need a knee / foot system that will fit the KC very tight to the distal limb and will fit a floor to socket space of about 42cm. The knee needs to be stable prior to HC and through stance. Currently the best we have is an older model 3R60 which provides stability at HC but can be overcome on downslopes due to the lack of hip extensor strength. The KC of this knee is also still very bulky with a KD J adapter and he is very concerned about cosmetics.

I wish the c-leg or Rheo could fit but both are unsuitable due to bulk / clearance. Does anyone have experience with the new Hydracadence (Proteor). Any other ideas? Funding is not an issue.

Thanks,
Markus Säufferer, B.Sc.(Kin), C.P(c)
