Hi all, thanks to all who responded. I post replies plus I have another question: the child's residual limb is very short: 3 inches from elbow I believe, and very soft and fleshy. He also has the stubs of 2 fingers, 4th and 5th. My question is socket design plus has anyone tried a locking pin and gel liner for a BE child and if so what are your experiences? I am bringing trimlines proximal to the olecranon and the epicondyles for suspension. Thank you again for your replies. Paula

Responses:

I would switch a six year old out of the CAPP TD into something the child can progress with for fine motor skills. Cosmesis may also become an issue for the child at this stage. I recommend trying a TRS voluntary closing device, either the ADEPT or the Lite Touch. Depending on the child's functional use of the TD and the insurance coverage, he may also be a candidate for Myoelectrics.

Have had good sucess with TRS lifeTouch hand and delrin wrist for this age
