US Politics

Hi all,
I received my copy of AOPA in advance yesterday and was very surprised to
find that only 31 people have donated to the PAC fund to date this year. I
think it is clear to all, that our field is extremely vulnerable right
now. There is going to be major changes in our healthcare system and we all
know how politics work. Money talks! Things are going to change and we must
make sure O & P is not forgotten about in the process. If every business
owner would donate the profits of 1 AFO we would raise well over the
$100,000 goal that has been set. We have all lost money in the stock market one
way or another this past year. This would likely be the best investment we
can make for our future income potential. See the AOPA in advance info
below.
Thank You,
David Falk, LPO, CPO

Hand in hand with Policy Forum efforts to educate legislators, the O&P
Political Action Committee enjoyed support from those attending the Policy
Forum in April. Two receptions arranged by the PAC were held during the Policy
Forum for Senator Cardin and Representative Berkley which raised
approximately $20,000 and $15,000 respectively for their campaigns. Contributions to
the O&P PAC were $7,740. Since the Policy Forum, the PAC has also
underwritten a $3,000 coffee with Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and attendance at a
reception for Sen. Harkin (D-IA) for $1,000.
So far this year, 31 AOPA members have contributed $14,140 to the PAC or
supported AOPA PAC designated fundraising events including:
* Kel Bergmann, CPO
* George Breece
* Mary Charton, CSR
* Don DeBolt
* Tom DiBello, CO, LO, FAAOP
* David Falk
* Terry Filippelli
* Rick Fleetwood
* Ed Gildehaus, III, CPO, C.Ped., FAAOP
* Sam Hamontree, CP
* Donald Hardin
* Steven Hoover, CP
* Julie Horton
* Fran Jenkins
* Al Kritter, CPO, FAAOP
* Harry Layton, CPO
* Robert Leimkuehler, CPO
* Anita Liberman-Lampear, MA
* Randall Ludolph, CP
* Jim McCallister, CO
* Sonia Meisenbach, MA, CSR
* Nina Miller, CFM, CSR
* Garry Owens, CO
* John Reynolds, CPO
* James Rogers, CPO, FAAOP
* Paula Rogerson-Doherty
* Robin Seabrook
* Frank Snell, CPO, FAAOP
* William Snell, CPO
* Gordon Stevens, CPO
* Eddie White, CP
* The PAC is still a long way from the 2009 goal of $100,000 in
contributions and with only about $14,000 so far this year. The push is
already starting for the 2010 elections so the current $269,896 balance will be
rapidly depleted. There will be a big push at the National Assembly with
the 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 21 Wine Auction and Tasting and the Deal or
Better Deal $10,000 raffle. Your help is needed
