I received a number of great suggestions on repairing my Stryker cast saw, places that fix them and alternative cheaper cast saws. The following are the suggestions:
Cast Saw Repair:
Cords get twisted and break internally. Get a cheap volt ohm meter and check. Unless an armature winding burned through & they almost never do it's most likely the cord or plug. You did replace the springs & metal flat caps behind the brushes right? I do not mean the black Bakelite brush covers.
Check to see if the cord is good sometimes the wires break on the inside with no visible marks on the outside.
Most common issue with those are bearings. that's why you never draw with cast saw, but go up-down cutting. go to stryker website, they have list of spare parts for their cast saws, very inexpensive to buy. bearings are like 8 bucks each. not the motor ones, but ones in the gooseneck, there are 2 of those that go bad very fast from abuse. that's when saw starts making that whining noise...

A number of you recommended not to repair the Stryker cast saw but to purchase the following instead:
FEIN multimaster oscillating cast saw about $300 from Pel.
Harbor Freight Multi-Function tool, part no. ITEM 65700-9VGA at www.harborfreight.com < <URL Redacted>> about $40.
You can now get an inexpensive cast saw at one of the large home improvement stores being marketed as a craft saw for around $125!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
