First off let me apologize as I am old school and come from a time when prosthetics was still an art. Today’s modern prostheses are exposed metal and plastic with cosmetic covers a thing of the past. However even in this world I can see were cosmetics has a place. In can be in the finishing of sockets on top of the exposed metal and plastic. For those individuals who choose to go coverless could we as prosthetists not do a little cosmetic work on the exposed sockets that the world sees like adding a little light weight urethane foam to the socket to give it some shape to match the remaining limb and detailing the final lamination to give it a finished look. Is this something that is feasible or not?
