Hi,
My name is Martin Gamblin and I am working as an Orthotist
in the North East of England. I recently graduated from
Strathclyde University approx 18months ago.
I have recently been involved in the delivery of a number of Post Op Hip
Braces with regard to the condition Legg Perthes. Some designs I have
found to be more successful than others and some braces are fine but
have limited sizes.
I have also found limited literature and concrete evidence that these
braces actually work.
I have used Orthoamerica, Chaneco and Becker braces previuosly
and the company I am working for are looking into manufacturing
a bespoke device similar to the Scottish Rite brace.
But I was wondering if anyone has had any success with other types
of braces and what abduction angle would be preferred as I am currently
being asked to set the devices at 70 degrees each limb, which i find
to be excessive.
If anyone could help me out by passing on any info regarding the
bracing of this condition I would be most grateful.
I can be reached at <Email Address Redacted>
Regards
Martin Gamblin
