I am looking for a lawyer. One who wants to make a difference more than a
dollar. I have undergone a life-changing situation that I firmly believe is
the result of the way our American healthcare system is structured. As I
consider my circumstances, I know there are vague aspects and uncertainties
about my beliefs, but the result is the same and I know our faith put in the
hands of medical practitioners is in need of change. As a consumer of
medical services, and a former provider of orthopedic devices, I am familiar
with the limitations foisted upon us in our search for healthcare. The
average American knows as much about their medical condition and choices as
the average voter knows about world politics. There is a real dumbing down
of consumer information and choices within our current system. I do not want
this to remain unchanged.
I am looking for an advocate who is willing to listen to what I have to say.
In this effort, I am reaching out to my professional frame of reference, my
fellow practitioners of O&P, to see if there are any recommendations or
referrals that might come forth so that I can pursue the matters that will
remain in my life until I die. This is not merely about my personal
circumstances, but more of the American way of healthcare provision. My
desire is to make my best attempt at change, not necessary through
litigation, but through awareness and conscientious energy.
Knowing whom I speak to, I wish to clarify that this is not a limb don't
fit issue, but one of medical responsibility to clients seeking services
and healthcare in our society. My issue is complex, but as I said, the
result is there, it is mine, and that is what I must live with. That is
unalterable. I have decided not to remain quiet and simply accepting of my
fate, but to try to change what I firmly hold to be wrong.
In this, my first attempt to find a proper path, I ask my colleagues from
the O&P community for a reference.
