The first part of this posting was written by Jim Russ. I am posting this at Jim's request since he does not have access to email.
I have been either in a hospital or rehab center for just over a month now since falling and breaking my hip. At the present time I am walking with the aid of a walker for up to 50 yards in a single stretch and my strength is improving daily. I am very hopeful about returning home in another week or so. I have developed a whole new appreciation for I-M rods, 'hip nailing' and the associated pain. I appreciate all of your support through the many notes, phone calls, cards, visits, flowers, etc. All of this popularity has encouraged me and I am now considering a return to teaching. There is a whole new generation out there that I have yet to influence....
James C. Russ, C.O.(e)
Retired Director of Orthotics
Northwestern University Medical School
Prosthetic and Orthotic Center
On my own personal note I would also like to thank everyone who has reached out to Jim during this initial recovery period. He has a very long road of rehabilitation ahead of him and it is going to be exceptionally challenging for someone with his age and health conditions. The calls, cards, letters, flowers, etc. have meant a great deal to him and have helped him to remain optimistic about the prospects of returning to more normal activities. For those of you who will be in Las Vegas for the AOPA Assembly you can stop by the O & P Enterprises booth and talk with Don Biondi or the Florida Brace Corporation booth and talk with me for the latest news on Jim.
If you would like to send well wishes to Jim his address is:

Michael Burton
OPAF President
Director of Sales and Marketing, Florida Brace Corporation
