Does anyone have any other ideas as to materials to
use to make hallux vulgas spints? I have cerebral
palsy and the pedorthist has made 2 sets of spints out
of putty that do not really fit. I have such tone that
I push the putty out while it is supposed to be
hardening. My anatomy is extremely challenging, too. I
have very tight tendons but have been advised against
surgery because I will lose the ambulation that I
have. There are several more digits needing to be
controlled by the brace as well . The deformities are
not only confined to my big toe anymore.
Luga Serie Oro pink silicone putty was used. We need
another material to use that does not set quickly,
nor squish out from tone all of the time. It needs to
be durable, as my hands are not always gentle because
of spasticity.
Even if we had more professionals available to us, I
am pretty certain the extra hands would get in the
way.

The braces have either hardened before they were
moulded, hurt and left a lot of redness, or I have
been able to get out of them while wearing my shoes
and AFOs thanks to tone. I need to take some action. I
have already got skin breakdown on my toes and do not
need infections.
Over the Counter splints have not really proven to be
effective. Does anyone have any ideas? I will pass
them on to the professional working with me.
Thank you,

Don't Quit.

Don't quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn;
Don't Quit over doubts and questions,
For there's something you may learn.
Don't quit when the night is darkest,
For it's just a while 'til dawn;
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.
Don't quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don't quit, for you're not a failure
Until you fail to try.
