Dear List:
I have a new client who is an active 12 year old boy, 95 pounds, with a Van Ness rotationplasty.
Interestingly, the client's current prosthesis was fabricated with polycentric knee joints. Can anyone offer an explanation for why this would be so?
What joints are commonly being used for a Van Ness prosthesis? I am thinking of using medium duty single axis joints aligned perpendicular to the line of progression.
Any suggestions regarding componentry and alignment would be greatly appreciated.
Responses will be posted.
Thank you,
