Dear Colleagues,

I have an interesting case at the moment.

A very active 25 y.o male prefessional kitesurfer (a sport not unlike wake
boarding but instead of being towed by a boat, the person uses power
generated via kite flight to surf on water).

Ultrasound shows small tears in both the R subscapularis and supraspinatus
muscles. The patient is confident that this injury did not occur whilst
kitesurfing.
In addition he has since had recurring long head of biceps injuries.

It seems that shoulder instability caused by injury to the rotator cuff is
putting extra strain on the biceps which is failing attempting to stabilize
the shoulder.

Does anyone know of a suitable orthosis that might withstand the forces at
play in such an extreme sport? Has anyone encountered a similar case?

It seems to me that if we can stabilize the shoulder, the biceps injury may
heal.

Interested in your experiences.

Regards
