Oregon's parity bill passed the house today with a unanimous vote. Special
thanks to rep. Buckley for his efforts in getting this bill heard and passed.
Now it is on to the Senate. Senator Bates is going introduce this bill for us
and I will keep everyone informed. There is a good chance that patients in
Oregon will see their insurance coverage for O and P be guaranteed this year
and into the future.
Licensure is continuing to be advanced by the Oregon Advocacy Center. Warren
Mays <Email Address Redacted> (mailto:<Email Address Redacted>) has been
working closely with the OAC on protecting our interests in this bill. We
expect it to move out of committee tomorrow and reach the senate floor this
session. This may very well become law this year as well so stay informed if this
issue is important to you.
An O&P warranty bill is going to be heard by committee on Fri. the 30th for
the Oregon senate. This bill would be catastrophic for patients in Oregon if
it passes. Patients may be forced to leave the state to receive some care.
Please help Nathan Keepers <Email Address Redacted>
(mailto:<Email Address Redacted>) in any way you can to stop this bill from being considered. We
particularly need patient\consumer groups who are willing to speak up about this
bill.
As always anybody may feel free to contact me directly if they have any
questions or comments about any of these issues.
