Dear list members,
As you may have heard, the Digital Resource Foundation for the O&P Community
has undertaken a project to digitize all of the Artificial Limbs journals
published by the National Academy of Sciences from 1954 to 1972 (see
www.oandplibrary.org < <URL Redacted>> ). We have in our
library of donated materials a full set of bound Artificial Limbs books, as
well as an almost full set of the separate journals (this set is missing
only the first issue, January 1954). Thus far our approach has been to cut
and scan from the separate journals and leave the bound books alone, so that
the bound set can be transferred into the Century College O&P Library when
the project is completed. However, without a separate copy of the January
1954 issue, we will be forced to cut the first of the bound volumes because
it isn't possible to get a good scan from these due to the binding being too
close to the text.
We are therefore in search of someone that has a copy of the January 1954
issue that they can loan us for scanning. Although we usually cut these to
speed the scanning process, we are willing to scan it without cutting so
that it can be returned to the owner if necessary. If you have a copy that
you are willing to loan us for this purpose, please respond to this e-mail
and I will send you the address to mail it to. We should be able to scan it
within a week or so and return to you quickly if you would like to have it
back.
Thanks,
Jon Shinn
