Hello List:

Patient is 13+6 y/o female, 27 degree left lumbar curve, compensatory
thoracic curve, slight decompensation and significant lumbar rotation. Standing film
shows left iliac crest approx. 1.25 lower than the right. Curve has increased
5 degrees since it was first identified 6 months ago.

Rx is for a Charleston TLSO, written by an orthopedic surgeon known for being
a spine specialist. I have a call into the MD, but have not spoken to him
yet.

My questions are:

Is this idiopathic adolescent scoliosis?

Is it a structural scoliosis caused by a leg length discrepancy?

Does a structural scoliosis show rotation of the pedicles?

I would like to see what a standing film looks like with the pelvis corrected
to level. I broached the topic with the pt.--she claims she would not wear a
1+ shoe lift, but would wear a Charleston Bending Brace.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I will post responses.

Thank you,
