Al, Thanks for your mail. The following will respond to your question
about Web publishing and about forwarding my message.
Ordinarily, I would be happy to approve re-publishing The HANDBOOK
either on-line or in hard copy, but I cannot because it needs editing
work. Parts of it are simply out of date. ACA bought the last books a
year or two ago for resale and, at that time, seemed interested in
getting more hard copies. They were also interested in publishing an
online version. I told them that I wasn't interested in doing a
rewrite myself but would give them the rights to re-publish it if they
would take the lead in appointing a writer and supervising the
development of an up-to-date version. They lost interest quickly. You
should know that I have made the same offer to MAAF president Phil
Tamoush. I wrote for MAAF for many years before moving away from Los
Angeles to Nevada City, an old gold mining town in the foothills east
of Sacramento. BTW, all of the proceeds from the sale of the first
printing of 2,000 books went to MAAF. So for the HANDBOOK, I guess
it's rest in peace--at least for the time being.
You may share any of these words as you wish.
