The Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund, Inc. (OPAF,www.opfund.org),
founder of the First Volley Adaptive Tennis clinics announces that they
have been awarded a $20,000.00 grant from the United States Tennis
Association-Tennis Education Foundation.
The grant will represent funding for eight First Volley clinics across the
country in 2007. First Volley introduces adaptive ambulatory tennis to
amputees and those with physical challenges who elect not to play wheelchair
tennis.
If you would like information on how you may join with OPAF and First Volley
in promoting adaptive ambulatory tennis for those with physical challenges,
please contact us at 215-752-5756. Our next First Volley clinic will be
Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center in
Philadelphia to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia
orthotic and prosthetic patients.
Further information is available on First Volley at the OPAF website at
<URL Redacted>. You can also sign up for our
email newsletter, 'Opportunities, Possibilities And Fun' and receive regular
OPAF updates directly on upcoming events and clinics at www.opfund.org.
OPAF is also the recipient of a 2007 Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation
grant in the amount of $5,000. These funds will go to support OPAF First
Swing clinics, sponsored by the National Amputee Golf Association. First
Swing Clinics introduce or re-introduce the game of golf to amputees and
those with physical disabilities. This is the fourth consecutive year that
OPAF has received a grant from the Wadsworth Foundation.
Finally, if you're looking for a last minute stocking stuffer for patients
or doctors, how about the DVD, This Old Cub, the story of famed Chicago
Cubs Third Baseman, Ron Santo? Ron is the only major league player to play
with diabetes. This Old Cub covers not only Ron's amazing career with the
Cubs, but also his second amputation and subsequent rehabilitation. OPAF
receives 50% of the proceeds from every sale. You may order by contacting
us at 215-752-5756 or on the web at www.ThisOldCub.com and enter OPAF
under the company name.
Due to posting restrictions on the list-serv, we apologize for our lengthy
message, but wanted to get our good news to you!
