My great thanks to all who responded to my questions .
below are the original post and responses :
Dear members
A male amputee has reffered to me with his left leg amputated across the tibia , 3cm distal to knee and knee has been fixed in a slight degree of flexion .
He,s used a knee prosthesis bearing his weight from both the end of the stamp and ischial tuberosity .
He has mush schars in lateral thigh and has used his prothesis for more than 20 yaers .
Now he is intended to have a prosthesis with microprocessor knee joint .
Do anyone knows any microprocessror knee suitable for him?
I also appreciate your input about the best type of socket for this amputee .
Best regards

Good to see your mail, gone through the content, when he has fixed deformity at knee while he willing to take micro procesor knee prosthesis, i will suggest let him go for knee disarticulation and probably you can go for endolite otherwise, it is better to provide flex foot so that his efficiency can improved, please mail me what you are intended.

Where do you place the knee joint distal to the residual limb or on the lateral side? I would imagine that placing it distal to the residual limb has no benefit however I would imagine that all knee joins could be placed laterally to provide a normal gait again the obvious problem would be the cosmetic appearance. In short any knee joint could be used.

I would suggest looking at using a bent knee prosthesis and then fitting a C-Leg or similar to the patient, C-Leg have a knee disarticulation adapter however the knee joint will be distal to the anatomical joint and the distal end of the residual limb will protrude posteriority out of the prosthesis. This usually suits very short residual limbs.
