I have to say, the issues concerning BOC and the resignation of some board members is unfortunate and reflects resigning members having an indifference to direction of an issue....
However, my concern is of the reporting made by Tina Eichner of The O&P EDGE.
The information contained in O&P Edge's December 30, 2005 release is inaccurate, and unfortunately, BOC was not provided an opportunity to respond prior to publication [Editor's note: The O&P EDGE attempted unsuccessfully to contact BOC for comment by e-mail and phone before the original release was posted].
If the journalist statement is true, [Editor's note: The O&P EDGE attempted unsuccessfully to contact BOC for comment by e-mail and phone before the original release was posted]. then why print information without knowing all the facts? Is the O&P EDGE attempting to make BIG news out of this unfortunate situation, and if so, for what purpose? Why not state the intended reason for making it news worthy? Did the reporter get all the facts from both sides?
Like most, I have dealt with journalists over the years when running for public office to writing for publications. With the facts in hand and double checked for accuracy the story on the BOC fallout could of been direct and specific in action.
After reading the editor's note..... how many of you find it undermining to report on issues when facts are ignored? Why go to print without having all the necessary fact and correct information citing sources? Am I an defending BOC or the members who resigned.....NO! But make sure we get all the information fair and balanced before going to print with half of the story. As the saying goes....believe half of what you read and now you know why!
Just a thought.....
