Hello,
I have a fairly young traumatic transtibial case with a fairly rounded, conical and fleshy stump. There is very little anatomical bony contour palpable. This person has recently developed neurogenic discomfort (buzzing and occasional but increasing pain) in the mid-posterior area, approximately at the intersection of the post. tibial nerve and his suture line, which runs around the distal-lateral to the posterior.
As options, the amputee clinic team have identifed: try a new socket, Rx meds, or surgical intervention. I would like to know comments or feedback on any cases you may have seen with similar issues and what solutions were most effective.
Thanks,
Markus Saufferer, C.P.(c)
