Has anyone had any experience billing for a L999 code for silicone
finger prosthesis? It is my understanding that if you accept Medicare
and they deny the code you can collect from the patient if they have
previously signed a form attesting to the fact that they realize it may
not be deemed a covered device and that they would be responsible for
payment. My fear is what if they only approve the code for a dollar are
you then caught up in accepting the Medicare as payment in full? Of
course Medicare does not preauthorize or predetermine so we are at their
mercy if we go ahead with this.
Thanks
