I was just notified by the office of the Lehneis family that any donations
that are made to the Rusk institute in the name of Dr. Lehneis should be
made to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine attention: Matthew Lee.
In the memo section of the donation check please put the name of Dr. Lehneis
as an acknowledgement.
It is with deepest sorrow that I must inform you of the passing of Dr. Hans
Richard Lehneis on Oct. 15. He was an integral part of the orthotic and
prosthetic profession. His legacy extends pass the several patents he has
in orthotics. Being Director at the Rusk Institute in New York City through
most of his career, he has touched and influenced countless numbers of lives
in our professional community. Starting his own business in 1969, Lehneis
Orthotic and Prosthetic Associates in Roslyn, NY;his sons, Richard, Alfred
and Roger carry on his work. He was a teacher, mentor, inventor, researcher,
friend, father and husband. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral services are being held Tuesday, Oct. 18th 6:30pm-9:00pm at the
Powell Funeral Home on 67 Broadway (RT110), Amityville, NY 11701 (631)

Mass will follow on Wednesday, Oct. 19th at 10:30am at St. Martin of Tours
RC Church, 37 Union Avenue, Amityville, NY 11701 (631) 264-0124
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Rusk Institute,
